Bengaluru: A five-year-old girl was killed after she was allegedly run over by a school van near Dasanapura on the outskirts of Bengaluru on Wednesday, leaving her family in deep shock.
The victim, identified as Tanisha, was the daughter of Kishore and Madhu. The tragic incident occurred while she had accompanied her mother to pick up her elder sister from school.
Tragedy outside school
According to preliminary investigations, Tanisha and her mother were waiting outside the school to receive her seven-year-old sister, Kanika, when the accident occurred.
Police said the child reportedly came in front of a moving school van, which allegedly ran over her. She sustained fatal injuries and died on the spot before medical assistance could arrive.
The incident has left family members and local residents devastated.
Birthday celebration turns into grief
In a heartbreaking twist, Tanisha was due to celebrate her sixth birthday next Friday. What was expected to be a joyful family occasion has instead turned into a period of mourning.
The incident has once again raised concerns over the need for stricter safety measures around school premises, particularly during student pick-up and drop-off hours.
Police begin investigation
Personnel from the Chikkabanavara Traffic Police visited the accident site and conducted a detailed inspection.
The girl’s body has been shifted to Nelamangala Government Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances leading to the accident. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the probe.
