Bengaluru: A delivery agent working for e-commerce platform Flipkart has been arrested after a woman accused him of sexual harassment in Bengaluru’s Marathahalli area, police said.
The accused has been identified as Vijay Mallikarjun Kamath. The arrest was made following a complaint lodged by Niloufer Fatima, prompting police to register a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Case registered under BNS provisions
According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Whitefield Division), the complaint was registered at the Marathahalli Police Station.
Police have booked the accused under Case No. 345/2026 for offences under Sections 75, 79 and 329(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Following the registration of the case, Kamath was taken into custody, and further legal proceedings are currently underway.
Police continue investigation
Police said the investigation is in progress and additional details are awaited. Officials have not disclosed further information regarding the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident.
Authorities have assured that the case will be investigated in accordance with the law.
The incident has once again highlighted concerns surrounding the safety of customers during doorstep delivery services and the importance of prompt action in cases involving allegations of harassment.
As the matter is under investigation, the allegations against the accused are yet to be tested in court.
