Bengaluru: Along with the rehabilitation and compensation to the farmers and general public who are affected by the flood and landslides, one of the major challenges in front of the state government after the flood furry is rebuilding the academic infrastructure.
According to the preliminary data collected by the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) and Department of Collegiate Education (DCE), over 5,000 school and college classrooms have been affected by the flood and the rain. Highest damages are reported from Belagavi and Chikkodi academic districts, which were worst-hit by the Krishna river flood water. In Chikkodi over 1,681 classrooms of schools and colleges are damaged. “In many places, the situation is grim and without repair works, it is not possible to start the classes,” informed an officer from the DPI.
