BENGALURU: As the city’s roads remain clogged with endless traffic, a revolutionary solution is on the horizon. Taxi Shunya, an electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, promises a hassle-free, swift commute, bypassing road congestion entirely. This cutting-edge air taxi, designed by Sarla Aviation, can carry six passengers and a pilot, covering 120 km on a single charge, which takes just 30 minutes to replenish.
Set to make its grand debut at the Global Investors’ Meet (GIM) 2025 on February 12, Taxi Shunya aims to transform urban travel with a sustainable, efficient, and high-speed alternative to traditional transport. Unlike conventional planes, it doesn’t need a runway and can lift off from rooftops or open spaces, making it incredibly adaptable to diverse environments.
The company plans to roll out its first commercial route between Electronics City and Kempegowda International Airport by 2028, drastically cutting travel time. Sarla Aviation is also preparing to establish a manufacturing facility within the next year, which could lower production costs and make air travel more affordable.
With its futuristic design and practical applications, Taxi Shunya could revolutionize Bengaluru’s transport landscape, offering a cleaner, faster, and smarter way to travel.
