A foreign traveler was taken into custody for allegedly causing a disturbance at Bengaluru International Airport Ltd (BIAL) and attacking security officials.
The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Foils Eliott Blair, faces charges of assaulting a woman, obstructing public servants, issuing threats, and disrupting public order. Law enforcement officials confirmed that he has been placed under judicial detention.
Blair holds citizenship in Australia as well as the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, possessing passports from both nations.
The altercation unfolded between 10 pm and 11 pm on Wednesday in the departure area of Terminal 2, which primarily serves international flights.
As per the complaint lodged by CISF Sub-Inspector A K Mishra, Blair was acting aggressively in the departure section and ignored multiple warnings from security staff. When stopped, he reportedly became violent, attacking personnel. Authorities revealed that he attempted to enter the restricted zone without a valid flight ticket.
Officials stated that the foreigner verbally abused CISF officers, obstructed them from performing their duties, and attempted to assault both male and female security personnel, along with passengers in the area.
Airport police intervened, detaining Blair and later placing him under arrest. A police insider mentioned that he appeared to be mentally unstable. Traveling on a tourist visa, he had spent months exploring various parts of India, including Goa. He allegedly wished to return to the UK but had not booked a flight.
