Bengaluru: With the view to making students the future green warriors, the state forest department has proposed a unique concept. Under the proposed scheme, 10 internal marks will be awarded to SSLC students if they grow 10 trees.
Elaborating on the plan, forest minister R Shankar informed that soon, his office would approach the state primary and secondary education department with the proposal. “The proposal is in the early stages. We want to make sapling plantation part of our schooling system to ensure that our children will become the green warriors of the future,” he said.
“The idea was given by Sringeri seer when I met him recently. We want it as an annual project for the students. Awarding marks will be an issue so, all the details will be finalised after a discussion with the education department,” he said.
