Bengaluru: The BJP is likely to field former Chief Secretary of the Government of Karnataka, K Rathna Prabha, who joined the party recently, in the Chincholi Assembly constituency by-election.
The by-election has been necessitated in Chincholi following the resignation of Congress MLA Dr Umesh Jadhav to join the BJP. He will be contesting as the BJP candidate from the Kalaburugi constituency.
Voting for the Chincholi by-election will be held on May 19.
Meanwhile, according to sources, Umesh Jadhav’s brother Ramachandra Jadhav is also seeking a BJP ticket from the constituency. “A decision in this regard will be taken in a day or two,” said a BJP leader.
