Bengaluru: After a joint press meet, former prime minister HD Devegowda and former CM Siddaramaiah shared a stage after a gap of 12 years, at Ballari.

As part of by-election campaign in Ballari for coalition candidate VS Ugrappa, both the leaders addressed a massive gathering and both attacked the BJP for its hate politics.

Speaking on the occasion, Deve Gowda informed that if the JDS-Congress win all five constituencies in the by-election it will create a new history in the country’s politics. “Whole nation is waiting for the Karnataka by-election results,” he said.

Speaking on the occasion Siddaramaiah stated that the BJP leaders looted Ballari. “We have shown the Reddy brothers their correct place. Sreeramulu is their puppet,” he said.

Before the start of the public meeting, Gowda patted the shoulders of Siddaramaiah and gave a pose to the lensmen. He stated that secular leaders must bury their enmity for building a secular country.

It was only recently that the two addressed a joint press meet, after a long gap of 12 years. This camaraderie, many say, was mainly to save the existence of the coalition government at the state. Once close associates, HDD and Siddaramaiah parted ways after the latter was ousted from the JDS for raising questions on HDD’s supremacy. Siddaramaiah then joined the Congress and subsequently went on to become the Chief Minister of the state.
