Bengaluru: Former Prime minister HD Deve Gowda has announced that he will soon hold a protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi demanding 50% reservation for women in the legislature.”I will sit on a dharna with 5,000 women,” he said.

Speaking to the reporters as part of women’s day celebration, he stated that several leaders including Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik assured support to him.
“This legislation is path-breaking and historical. This shall be implemented at the earliest,” he said.

“In Karnataka, I will take women in two trains to the protest,” he said.

“In Rajya Sabha, the bill has been cleared. It is pending in the Lok Sabha over the last six years. This delay is an injustice to the women,” he charged.
