Bengaluru: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State unit plans to celebrate its 38th Foundation Day on Friday, April 6 by organising booth-level meetings and flag hoisting programmes across the state, said a BJP top functionary.

“Around 6 lakh BJP activists will participate in the door-to-door programme to highlight the failures of the Congress government in Karnataka. There are around 57,000 polling booths in the state and the BJP is the first political party to constitute committees for all booths in the state,’’ BJP national general secretary and Karnataka in-charge P Muralidhar Rao told media persons here on Thursday, April 5.

Rao said the booth committee presidents would hoist the BJP’s flags at suitable locations in the state. “Meetings will be organised on the occasion. Important people of the respective locality will be invited to the meeting to discuss about contemporary issues and receive suggestions from them,’’ he said.

The BJP volunteers will meet the people as part of the massive reach out programme aimed to create awareness among the voters on the need to make Karnataka free from Congress.

“The BJP activists will explain to the people of Karnataka on how the Siddaramaiah government represents criminals, corruption and communal elements. They will also explain about how the Siddaramaiah government is responsible for the farmers’ suicides and the deterioration of law and order in the state,’’ he said.

The BJP leaders would take part in common meal programme to be held on April 8, 9 and 10 in cities with a population of around 10,000 and on April 11, 12 and 13 at towns that have more than 5,000 population and villages with a minimum population of 600.

“The BJP activists will take a pledge during the common meal programme to make Karnataka free from farmers’ suicides,’’ he said.

The BJP national general secretary said that the BJP has been against dynasty rule since it believes that dynasty and democracy cannot go together. “BJP is the only political party that gives importance to democracy. We have arranged constituency influencers meetings to select the right candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections. We have received suggestions from three lakh people on the selection of candidates for the Assembly elections,’’ he said.

The first list of the BJP candidates is expected to be announced within two to three days. “The BJP may release the candidates list shortly. We may release the list of candidates in two batches,’’ he said.
