Kasargod: A car-container lorry collision near Uppala claimed lives of four members of the same family during wee hours of Wednesday morning.
The deceased are Ram Narayanan (52) from Chelakkara in Trichur, his wife Vathsala (48), children Ranjth (20) and Nithin (24).
It is said that the car in which the family was traveling from Trichur to Mangaluru collided with the container plying from opposite direction on the National Highway near Uppala at about 4 am. The intensity of the collision was such that the fire personnel had to toil very hard to pull out the bodies that were stuck in the mangled remains of the car.
The bodies have been shifted to Mangalpady Community Health Centre.
Case has been registered with Manjeshwar police.
