Bengaluru: The High Court of Karnataka has ordered issue of notice to the city police and IDBI Bank on a petition filed by the former badminton player Prakash Padukone, his wife and a daughter questioning freezing of their joint bank account in connection with the ongoing probe against Bengaluru-based wealth management firm Vikram Investments.
Justice A.S. Bopanna, before whom the petition came up for hearing, adjourned further hearing till April 4 while asking the government counsel to seek instruction on the issues raised in the petition.
Padukone, his wife, Ujjala, and daughter Anisha have questioned the letter written by the Banashankari police to the IDBI Bank’s Malleswaram branch for freezing their joint account.
It has been contended in the petition that Mr. Padukone had invested some amount in 2011 on the advice of one Sutram Suresh, a former sports journalist who is associated with the firm. Suresh is an accused in the criminal case registered by the police for allegedly duping hundreds of investors.
