Bangalore: In celebrating the international students milestone across Karnataka The World Organization of Students & Youth (WOSY) organised an international students graduation ceremony which was held on the 31st July 2025 at Viveka Auditorium in Bangalore, Karnataka. The grand graduation included international students from Mysore, Mangalore and Bangalore from more than 40 countries from Africa and Asia .
During the event Srinivas ji ( Vishva vibhag) dwelled on the external family that has just been formed around the globe as well as the diversity and unity of the event by WOSY by bringing around 20 countries together in one room. He also touched on the greatestness of India and the belief of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” .
“As you have chosen Karnataka as your educational hub your journey has been remarkable” said Manandi N Ramesh, (trade commissioner Cuba) during the same ceremony. He further acknowledged the students’ hard work, dedication and perseverance and that he saw the significance of global education and the students’ education that they have obtained in Karnataka will undoubtedly shape their future and contribute to the global community. Adding that, the motive of every international student is to foster the diversity, unity, inclusivity and cultural exchange and provide a supportive environment which encourages economic excellence, personal growth and promotes cross-cultural understanding and collaboration among students from different diverse backgrounds. Ramesh further encouraged students to thrive through economic success and intellectual curiosity to engage in meaningful interactions from various cultures and backgrounds.
Varun Patel Karnataka State Convenor WOSY stated that the Graduation Ceremony of the World Organization of Students and Youth (WOSY) is a symbolic and celebratory event marked the successful completion of a student’s journey within the organization. Adding that It represents not just academic or programmatic achievement, but the growth of global understanding, leadership, and cultural unity among young minds from different countries. He further detailed that WOSY, is known for promoting international cooperation, peace, and youth development, uses this occasion to honor the efforts and commitment of its participants. Moreover Patel empathised that “The WOSY graduation is not just an end, but a new beginning in the lifelong journey of global friendship and leadership”.
“Not just about certificates, it was about connection, cultural exchange, and feeling truly included in the Karnataka community”.
Nikondemus Nikondemus, from Namibia, a final-year MA MBA student in Mysore, was also among the graduates and expressed deep gratitude to the gathering. He shared that studying in Mysore gave him a refreshing and enriching experience, where he discovered more than just academics.
For Nikondemus, the event was not merely about receiving certificates but about building meaningful connections, embracing cultural exchange, and experiencing true inclusion within the Karnataka community. It became a celebration of belonging far from home, leaving him with cherished memories of kindness and acceptance.
Karnataka a Tapestry Experience
Dorine Cherotich, from Kenya, traveled to Mysore, India, to pursue a Master’s degree in Psychology. She expressed her academic journey as a tapestry of experiences woven with knowledge, culture, and kindness.What began as an academic pursuit quickly turned into a journey of cultural discovery, love, and connection. She was warmly welcomed by the Indian people, whose hospitality was often expressed through simple yet heartfelt gestures like offering food or a cup of chai.
Over time, Dorine became part of a strong African student community in Mysore and was honored to serve as the President of the African Students in Mysore. This role allowed her to collaborate with sponsors and organizations that celebrated and supported African students, including memorable events organized by groups such as WOSY, which made students feel at home through music, food, and cultural performances.
“Karnataka’s education shaped me not only academically but personally. The classrooms were spaces of curiosity and challenge, where professors encouraged us to think beyond textbooks and engage with real-world ideas. Mysore University, with its legacy and serene campus, became my sanctuary for growth.
Her life in Mysore was enriched by experiencing India’s colorful festivals, such as Dasara and Diwali, which taught her values of unity, gratitude, and joy. She also admired Karnataka’s natural beauty and the kindness of its people, noting Mysore’s peaceful atmosphere, cleanliness, and friendly spirit.
Dorine’s time in India became more than just education, it was a lesson in kindness, cultural exchange, and friendship across borders. She feels proud and grateful for the memories and connections she has made, carrying with her the understanding that India, especially Mysore, has become a second home.
“As I step into the next chapter of life, I do so with gratitude for the education that empowered me, the culture that inspired me, and the people who made Karnataka feel like home” she said.
