A devastating fire, suspected to have been triggered by a gas leak, has taken the life of a 35-year-old woman in northern Bengaluru. Anjali Das, who sustained 95% burns and suffered extensive respiratory injuries, succumbed to her wounds at Victoria Hospital on Tuesday, according to police reports.

Her husband, Deeju Das, aged 36, continues to fight for his life in critical condition, while their two-year-old daughter, though hurt, is reportedly stable and receiving medical care.

The fire erupted early Monday morning in the family’s rented house located near Chokkasandra Main Road in T Dasarahalli. Flying debris from the explosion caused minor injuries to two neighbors who were nearby when the incident occurred.

Officials are investigating the exact cause of the fire, with initial suspicions pointing to a gas leak. This tragic event highlights the pressing need for greater vigilance and precautionary measures to ensure household safety against gas-related accidents.

Communities are urged to prioritize regular checks and maintenance of gas connections to prevent such disasters from recurring.
