Bengaluru: Finally, the newly carved Sarawasthi idol has been reinstalled at the entrance of the Bangalore University (Nagarabhavi).
It can be recalled that in the month of May, a group of academicians and students opposed the placement of the idol and asked the BU administration to install the statue of the Buddha instead.
The new statue has been carved after spending Rs. 7 lakhs. University VC KR Venugopal informed that he paid the amount from his salary and not from the university funds.
Speaking to the reporters, he said that no other statue will be installed on the university campus. This means, there will be no space for the Buddha statue also. Security was beefed up when the statue was installed.
