Bengaluru: In another incident of smuggling, officials from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), on a tip-off, boarded an Indigo flight that had landed here in Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) and searched the empty flight where they found an oddly sealed packet inside a life jacket. On further inspection, the customs officials found that the packet contained 14 biscuits of gold which weighed up to 3 kgs whose worth is estimated to be Rs 1.05 Crore.

Officials are now in search for a suspect who might be an insider who was supposed to pick up the packet that was allegedly left behind by one of the flight’s passengers.

In another incident, officials seized 92 gold biscuits each weighing 100 grams, estimated at Rs 3.02 Crore from a Singapore Airlines flight. Officials found the biscuits inside a speaker which was concealed inside the bag of a passenger with a black tape. The bag remained unclaimed by anyone on the conveyor belt which led to a suspicion. The authorities, who scanned the bag just to be on the safer side found the presence of gold biscuits in the bag.

The officials traced the owner of the bag to be Noorulayne, a Singapore national and his last known location in Chennai. Officials have sent out a notice against this Singapore national.
