Bengaluru: In the Good Governance Index 2021 (GGI), Karnataka has been ranked sixth in the composite ranking among ‘Group A’ states with incremental progress in Commerce and Industry. On ‘Good Governance Day’ in New Delhi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah released the index prepared by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG).

The State came in sixth place, just behind Kerala and followed by Tamil Nadu, with an individual third place in Commerce and Industry (score 5.109). The State was ranked fifth in agriculture and related sectors, fourth in the environment, and eighth in Public Infrastructure and Utilities.

Karnataka was ranked sixth in the areas of Judiciary and Public Safety.

Except for Karnataka, all states have a greater conviction rate than the previous GGI. Karnataka, on the other hand, has a higher rate of consumer court cases getting solved, while nine other states have seen a decline.
