Bengaluru: The state government is planning to gift huge pay hike combined with 5 days-a-week work package to lure all state government employees ahead of assembly election 2018.

The tenure of Sixth Pay Commission headed by M R Srinivasmurthy will expire by this month end and the Congress government led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has planned to implement the panel’s recommendations in total, revealed sources.

This is a ploy by the state government to lure its employees ahead of elections after waiving off farmer loans up to Rs 50,000 some months ago.

The pay panel recommendations include:

5 days a week work, Saturday and Sunday being holidays.
Cancellation of certain holidays related to birth anniversaries to compensate for the loss of working days.
Extension of working hours
Pay parity–salaries of state employees to match those of central government employees
Minimum pay being Rs 16,350 and maximum Rs 1, 32,925
If implemented in total, group D employees will get Rs 16350, Group – C employees Rs 19,850, First division Clerks Rs 28,125, Group –B employees Rs 39,425, Group A – Rs 48,625 and IAS cadre officers Rs 95,325 respectively.
Six lakh state government employees are likely to benefit from the huge hike in pay packages.
It remains to be seen whether the union government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi will take the gamble of waiving off all farm loans to counter the moves employed by the state government in the next few days.
