Bengaluru: Over 40,000 government primary schools across the state will remain shut today with the teachers calling for a shutdown, demanding the fulfilment of their various demands. As part of the bandh call, protests have also been organised in all the district headquarters.
According to the office bearers of the state teachers’ association, the main demands of the teachers include allowing primary teachers to teach classes between VI, VII, and VIII, the continuation of the old pension scheme etc.
According to the sources, the state government is trying to replace primary teachers with assistant graduate teachers to improve the learning levels.
