Govt announces Rs 10 lakh for information on Gauri Lankesh’s killers

Bengaluru: The state government on Friday announced a cash award of Rs 10 lakh for anyone who provides the police with information on killers of senior journalist and activist Gauri Lankesh.

Announcing this on Friday, Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy, who held a meeting with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at the latter’s official residence Krishna, told media persons that cash award of Rs 10 lakh would be given to those who come forward and give information on the assailants.

The Chief Minister has directed the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to speed up the investigation and the team has commenced the probe, Reddy said.

The Government was ready to provide more number of police officers for the SIT to investigate and nab the culprits involved in the brutal killing of Gauri Lankesh. The team has been instructed to probe every angle. Only probe can reveal the truth, Reddy said.

Meanwhile, Minister for Mines and Geology Vinay Kulkarni has sought ‘Z” category security and the Home Department has provided it to him. The government is ready to provide security to all rationalists who fear threat to their life, the minister added.
