Bengaluru: The State government has appointed 16 security guards to protect Bellandur Lake against dumping waste and adding filthy water. The guards, carryout beat around the water source to keep an eye on those who pollute the lake.
After an observation of the security measures, Bengaluru Urban Development Minister K J George said that two aerators have been installed to increase the level of dissolved oxygen. “We want to keep the lake clean with this. We have installed a metal fence and CCTV cameras around the lake,” he said.
The expert committee put a barrier to the cleaning process of the lake earlier claiming that weed helps in purifying the water. Otherwise, it might have been completed by now. The dry weed is causing fire. However, 40% cleaning process is over and the remaining works should be completed within two months, he directed the officials.
Meanwhile, George clarified that the Central government didn’t release any funds. The statements of MLA Aravind Limbavali and Union Minister Prakash Javadekar are baseless, he said.
Bellandur lake will be developed as water sports destination. I have directed the officials to take needed steps, he added.
