Bengaluru: With online education becoming an integral part of the new education system in the post-COVID world, the state education department has formed a committee to frame rules and guidelines for online education of students between Classes VI and X. This experts’ committee has also been asked to recommend rules for mass-media based education for children between LKG and Class V.
It can be recalled that recently, after rampant criticism from parents and experts, the state government banned live-streaming education for children between LKG and Class V.
The committee comprising 11 members is headed by MK Sridhar, an academician from Bengaluru. He has previously worked with the team that formed the New Education Policy (NEP).
The other members of the committee include DPI commissioner Jagadeesh, academician Gururaj Karajagi, VP Niranjanaradhya Fellow and Programme Head – Universalisation of Education at National Law School of India University, Bengaluru, BS Rishikesh, an expert in primary education and a faculty of the Azim Premji University, Director, NIMHANS, and others. MT Reju, state project director, Samagra Shikshana Karnataka will be the member secretary of the committee.
The committee has been directed to furnish a report within ten days.
