Bengaluru: The state government led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, is facing flak as Common Entrance Test (CET) has been scheduled on April 18, which happens to be Basava Jayanthi-a day of special significance to the Lingayat community.
Lingayats criticised that the government, which had changed the public holiday for the festivals of minorities, could have changed the examination date. They said that the recommendation of giving separate religion status to Lingayats is meaningless if its important festivals are not recognised. Others accused that the government proved that the Lingayat religion issue was raised for political benefit.
