Govt says ‘NO’ to bundh call on Feb 4

Bengaluru: In a way, providing a major relief to the BJP, Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy clarified that there will not be any provision for Bengaluru bundh on February 4.

It may be recalled that several organisations had called for a bundh on Feb 4 seeking solution to Mahadayi row. The bundh date coincided with visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to state capital. This had left BJP leaders in state of fix as they wanted to make sure that no disgraceful episode undulating during the PM’s visit.

The decision of the Home Minister has brought big relief to the BJP.

Reddy has however said that if anyone wants to protest, they can do it in front of the Freedom Park and nowhere else.

Reddy said, “it is the responsibility of the state government to provide proper security to the Prime Minister. He is not the BJP prime minister, but he is prime minister of the nation. When the Prime Minister comes, it is our responsibility to honor him. We will take every precautionary measure so that no untoward incidents happen on that day.”

Meanwhile, Jana Samanyara Party Publicity Committee President Chandrashekhara Patil, participating in an indefinite protest in front of Freedom Park on Mahadayi dispute, demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi to declare his stand on dispute during his visit to Bengaluru on February 4.

It can be recalled that Kannada Chaluvali Vatal Party President Vatal Nagaraj has assured that he is ready to drop bundh decision if BJP assures in advance of submitting a request to the PM.
