Bengaluru: As the government has advanced the commencement of the academic year this time, students will have to wait at least two months for their uniform.
The department has announced that classes will begin on May 16 for the academic year 2022-23. It had plans to supply uniforms in the beginning itself.
According to sources, tenders were called twice. The tender process included seven bidders, and it was a highly competitive bid, but the lowest bidder quoted 30 per cent to 50 per cent.
According to sources, uniform orders have increased this year since most schools are placing orders two months in advance.
The department has decided to provide two sets of uniforms for the new academic year. One is for the current academic year and the other which was pending the last academic year.
Official informed that despite having funds put aside for uniforms, they were re-tendering to see if they could get a better deal.
