Bengaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Monday November 1 said that the nominating process for Karnataka Rajyotsava award recipients will be changed beginning next year.

He said that the current procedure of receiving applications for the selection of candidates will be discontinued in order to make it more practical, and that the monetary award will be increased to Rs. 5 lakh from the current Rs. 1 lakh.

He also said that the age limit will be reduced to include persons under the age of 60, and that the court will be consulted about this.

Direct selection by the government’s recommendation and selection committee will replace the nomination process.
