Bengaluru: On Friday December 31, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has announced a list of initiatives intended to improve and make the Administration people-friendly.
Among them are changes to the laws to regulate the cultivation of ‘gomala’ by farmers, steps to redefine deemed forests, and the preparation of a master plan for the development of 48 towns.
Speaking to mediapersons he said, “At a cost of Rs. 20 crore, the government will conduct a survey to implement Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ambitious land-holding scheme for the poor, the ‘Swamithva Yojna.’ This will ease the grant of title deeds.”
He felt that the delay in regularising gomala land, which had been cultivated by farmers for several years, under the ‘Akrama-Sakrama’ scheme was due to the Forest Department’s identification of even revenue land as coming under its jurisdiction.
“The Deputy Commissioners should take the lead on this, as well as ensuring the disposal of thousands of revenue cases that have been pending for more than a decade with Tahsildars and Assistant Commissioners. We will add more support staff to speed up the clearance of files,” he added.
