State Govt. to issue an ordinance to replace University registrars with IAS / KAS officers
Bengaluru: With the idea of streamlining the administration of higher educational institutions of the state, the government has decided to appoint IAS / senior KAS officers as university registrars (administration). The government decided to issue an ordinance to implement this decision quickly.
Registrar (administration) is a key executive officer of a university. He is the government’s pointsman in the universities.
Deputy Chief Minister CN Ashwath Narayan made an announcement in this regard.
“It is a key reform in the higher education sector. We need to bring an amendment to the state Universities’ Act 2000 to implement this. To ensure that it will be implemented quickly, we will issue an ordinance,” he said.
Presently only academicians are appointed as the registrar (administration).
