Govt to launch SC/ST welfare programmes worth over Rs 28 Cr

Bengaluru: The SC & ST State Development Council, led by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has approved the implementation of various welfare programmes worth over Rs. 28,000 Crore under the Scheduled Caste Sub-Plan (SCSP) for Scheduled Castes and Tribal Sub-Plan on Friday (TSP).

Speaking to mediapersons that the council examined the use of last year’s allocations and funds that remained unspent. Some of the programmes were approved with minor changes, while the majority were approved without any changes.

Bommai said that the allocation for the Social Welfare Department has been increased by Rs. 500 Crore, and the Agriculture Department’s grant has been increased to Rs. 1,061 Crore from Rs. 851 Crore, the Horticulture Department’s grant has been increased to Rs. 187 Crore from Rs. 142 Crore and the Health Department’s grant has been increased to Rs. 1,300 Crore from Rs. 899 Crore.
