Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday announced the government’s intention of setting up the Vishwakarma University.
Inaugurating the Vishwakarma Jayanti programme organised by the Department of Kannada and Culture at Ravindra Kalakshetra here, the chief minister said that the idea was to protect and promote skilled craft being practised by the community since centuries. He said that the contribution of the community to the society could not be undermined.
The state government would take steps to earmark more funds for the Vishwakarma Community Development Corporation, the chief minister said.
