Bengaluru: Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa on Monday, September 7, said that there was no question of the government protecting anyone involved in the drug menace, adding that their crackdown on drug peddling and substance abuse is unprecedented.
Speaking to reporters in the city, he stated that this is the first time in the country that “we have taken strong steps against” the drug menace. He added that the intention is to stop the menace that is currently causing harm to students and other youngsters and that the authorities are taking all the necessary steps towards this end.
In the past few days, police and other authorities have arrested several people in connection with alleged drug peddling and substance abuse menace in the state. During the raids, they reportedly seized ganja, hash oil, cannabis, MDMA, and other things.
Recent arrests by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) also revealed alleged links of Sandalwood actors and musicians with drug peddlers, the most notable of whom is actress Ragini Dwivedi.
High-profile party planner Viren Khanna and others are some arrests that were made by the central crime branch police.
