Greater Bengaluru’s Growth: A New Era of Satellite Townships
In a strategic move that’s set to boost land values on the outskirts of the state capital, the Cabinet approved the ambitious ‘Greater Bengaluru Integrated Townships’ initiative on Thursday. Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister H K Patil shared the details during a press briefing, stating that the project would be executed under the Greater Bengaluru Development Authority. The initiative will cover several areas, including Bidadi hobli, Ramanagar taluk, Byramangala, Bannigere, Hosuru, K.G. Gollarapalya, Kanchugaranahalli, Aralalusandra, Kempayyanapalya, Kanchugaranahalli Kavalu, Mandalahalli, and parts of Vaderahalli in Harohalli hobli, all within Ramanagara district.
This plan is aimed at decongesting Bengaluru by developing surrounding regions such as Devanahalli, Nelamangala, Hoskote, Doddaballapur, Magadi, and Bidadi into satellite townships, complete with enhanced road and railway infrastructure.
Patil also mentioned that the Cabinet discussed a report by a committee led by senior Congress leader V.S. Ugrappa, which addresses the protection of women and children from exploitation. The committee’s 135 recommendations will now be reviewed by a team under the Chief Secretary, tasked with drafting an implementation plan within the next three months.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved the withdrawal of a bill regarding premium FARs, giving post facto consent to that decision.
