Grief grips Karnataka: bodies arrive in Bengaluru after Pahalgam terror
The mortal remains of two Karnataka tourists slain in the brutal Pahalgam terror attack were brought to Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport on Thursday.
The deceased, Manjunath Rao and Bharath Bushan, were among 26 people reportedly targeted and killed after being identified by their religion in Kashmir’s Pahalgam on Tuesday. The attack, carried out in the presence of their families, left the nation stunned. Most victims were visiting tourists.
Union Minister V Somanna and Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya escorted the bodies back home. Rao’s remains were later transported to his native town of Shivamogga, while Bushan will be laid to rest in Bengaluru.
Addressing the media at the airport, MP Surya condemned the attack and vowed a strong response. “India, under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, will not let this go unanswered,” he stated.
The targeted nature of the killings has sparked outrage, with BJP leaders calling it a faith-based atrocity. The tragic return of the victims has cast a somber shadow over Karnataka, with families and communities reeling from the loss.
