New Delhi/Bengaluru: The prices of subsidised gas cylinders have increased steeply after the introduction of Good and Services Tax (GST) across the country. The quantum of increase depends on state taxes and will be around Rs 32 per cylinder, the highest hike in this category since 6 years.
The price of subsidised cooking gas cylinder of 14.2 kg in Delhi has risen from Rs 446.65 to Rs 477.46 after GST came into force on July 1.
Oil companies have increased Rs 31.67 per cylinder in Kolkata with effective price being Rs 480.32. In Chennai and Bengaluru each cylinder would cost Rs 465.56 and Rs 477 respectively.
In Mumbai where 3 percent VAT is applicable, the price for each cylinder would rise by Rs 14.28 with effective price being Rs 491.25.
