Bengaluru: Higher education minister GT Devegowda has urged Sri Vidya Prasanna Tirtha Swami, the seer of Kukke Sri Subrahmanya Math to stop his hunger strike that he began on Saturday, October 13.
The pontiff started his strike to protest against the Forest Department’s move of cutting off the drinking water supply to the Math.
In a letter to the seer, GT Devegowda lamented his decision to go on a hunger strike, calling it a sad development.
“A temple can witness a spiritual atmosphere only when there is a cordial relationship between the temple management and the Math. The state mujarai minister has requested me to find a solution to this problem. Afer Vijayadashami, I will personally visit the Math and hold talks with the seer,” he informed.
“I request Sri Vidya Prasanna Tirtha Swami to end his fast immediately,” he added.
