Bengaluru: The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President, Dinesh Gundu Rao criticised State Minister for Higher Education and Mysuru Lok Sabha Election In-charge for coalition G T Deve Gowda, here on Wednesday, May 1.

Speaking to media, he said, “GTD stating that the Janata Dal (S) supporters have voted for the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate this time in the LS polls, clearly shows that he has not put in sincere efforts to win the confidence of the people.

G T Devegowda popularly known as GTD created a political storm in the state today by alleging that the JDS workers had voted for the BJP in Mysuru.

He had told the media that JDS workers had voted for BJP candidate Pratap Simha in many villages. “I know this. I believe that the JDS should have contested separately,” he had said.

He had held the delay in the announcement of the coalition candidate responsible for creating confusion among JDS workers, thus pushing them to vote for BJP. The alliance exercise should have been completed two months in advance, he had opined said.

Meanwhile, rubbishing GTD’s claims the KPCC president told media, “I am not aware on what basis has he said this but such statements are not acceptable for the Congress-Janata Dal S”, he added.

Speaking about the decisions on nominating the LS candidates from the coalition, Dinesh said that the coalition leaders had decided in concurrence and that there were no confusions.

“The candidate to contest from the Mysuru Lok Sabha constituency were decided on time by the coalition leaders and if the LS poll district in-charge leaders had worked with utmost responsibility, then such confusions wouldn’t have arose”, he said.

Meanwhile, he opined that both Congress and JDS party workers had toiled and done the ground work well because of which, he added, the chances of coalition candidates’ victory were high.
