Bengaluru: The Bengaluru west division police have arrested a 22-year-old gym instructor in connection with the murder of a delivery boy of an e-commerce firm. The police have identified the accused as Varun Kumar, resident of Mudalapalya.
The police said the accused had reportedly committed the crime to steal a mobile phone from the victim. According to the police, Varun Kumar had joined the gym only a week ago as instructor and ordered for a mobile phone online with Flipkart, worth Rs 12,900. When the delivery boy Nanjundaswamy, 28, came with the consignment on December 9, Varun told him to wait at the Allahabad Bank parking lot in Vijaynagar.
There he initially attacked Nanjundaswamy with a blunt object, the police suspect it was a flower vase, then bludgeoned him with an iron road and stabbed him with a knife. He later dumped the body in a cement mixer at the cellar of the building. Varun took two mobile phone handsets and Rs 10,000 in cash from the victim and escaped.
The Vijaynagar police who took up investigation tracked down Varun through the last call that was made from Nanjundaswamy’s phone to him. A detailed questioning led Varun to confess to the crime and the police arrested him on Tuesday.
