Bengaluru: Former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda’s wife, Chennamma, passed away after suffering a massive cardiac arrest at a private hospital in Bengaluru on Saturday (July 18). She was undergoing treatment for breathing complications, chest congestion and other age-related health issues.
Chennamma had been admitted to Manipal Hospital in Bengaluru on Wednesday night after her health deteriorated. According to the hospital, she had shown signs of recovery before suffering a sudden cardiac arrest on Saturday afternoon.

In an official statement, Manipal Hospital said, “We regret to inform that Mrs. Chennamma suffered a massive cardiac arrest at 4 p.m. today despite her being on the road to recovery earlier.”
Doctors had been treating her for respiratory complications, chest congestion and other age-related ailments since her admission. Despite medical efforts, she could not be revived.
