Harassment Near Eco World & Controversial Online Remarks Stir Bengaluru and Mangaluru
In Bengaluru, Karnataka, a case has been filed following allegations that a woman was assaulted by an unidentified man near the Eco World campus in Marathahalli late at night on April 30.
As per Whitefield Deputy Commissioner of Police, Shivakumar, the incident took place around 11:40 pm when the woman was walking near the Eco World entrance. A man on a two-wheeler reportedly approached from behind, struck her with his hand, and quickly fled the scene.
Police have initiated legal action by booking the case under Sections 74 (assault on a woman) and 78 (stalking) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023. Authorities are actively investigating the matter to trace the culprit and ensure justice.
In a separate incident from Mangaluru, Dakshina Kannada, another case has come to light involving a local dietician accused of sharing offensive content online. The woman, identified as Atifa, allegedly posted comments that were deemed anti-national and derogatory towards the Hindu community.
Mangaluru Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal stated that the viral post was brought to their attention two days earlier. Promptly, police coordinated with the hospital where the woman worked and registered a case under relevant BNS provisions. The accused has been summoned, and her mobile phone—used for the post—has been confiscated for forensic examination. Further steps will follow depending on the findings.
Notably, this case emerged shortly after another Facebook user was booked for supporting the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir.
