Mangaluru: The High Court has issued a notice to Harish Poonja, the legislator who made controversial remarks against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. During a gathering on May 22, Poonja allegedly accused Siddaramaiah of being responsible for the murder of 24 party workers.
In response, Harish Poonja filed an FIR at the Beltangadi police station. The FIR and the plea from representatives and journalists were supposed to be dismissed by the special court of the Lokayukta and public representatives. In this context, Harish Poonja submitted a criminal petition. The notice to set aside the proceedings was filed by advocate B. Latif.
Consequently, Justice N. Prasanna, a single-member bench of the High Court, has issued an order to cancel the hearing in the FIR and the special court for representatives and journalists. Advocate B. Latif has requested a two-week adjournment to file an objection. Accordingly, the hearing is scheduled for December 8.
