Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court has asked the state government to submit a report about the pollution of the river Cauvery at its source, Talacauvery and Bhagamandala, within four weeks.
A few local residents had moved the court seeking its intervention to conserve the river, which is considered to be the lifeline of South India.
The petitioners alleged that construction work and drainage water is polluting the river at its source. They sought action, as over two crore people depend on the river’s water.
Based on this petition, The Court sought a report on the river’s pollution and conservation in the next four weeks.
