Bengaluru: Former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda has been selected for the Sri Maharshi Valmiki Award, instituted by the state government, for the year 2018-19.
A selection committee led by former High Court judge Justice Naga Mohan Das selected Gowda for this award in recognition of his efforts to uplift the Valmiki community in the state.
A delegation led by social welfare minister Priyanka Kharge invited HDD to receive the award.
CM HD Kumaraswamy will confer the Valmiki ward to his father HD Devegowda in an event to be held on Wednesday at Vidhana Soudha.
