Bengaluru: The Janata Dal (S) State President H D Kumaraswamy has alleged that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had misused his powers to obtain the intel report on the “safe constituencies” for the chief minister to contest in the upcoming assembly polls after the model code of conduct came into existence.
“Obtaining the report even after the election schedule was announced is tantamount to misuse of power to win the polls”, said Kumaraswamy adding that he would lodge a complaint with the Election Commission against the chief minister for violating the model code of conduct.
Further, he added that the intel report, which is doing rounds on social media, has cautioned Siddaramaiah against contesting from Chamundeshwari Assembly constituency.
The report mentions that the JD(S) leaders, including the sitting MLA from the party G T Devegowda, are mobilising Vokkaliga vote share and that contesting from Chamundeshwari was not a safe option for the CM. It apparently suggests that the CM could consider contesting from Varuna (Mysuru), Basavakalyan (Bidar), Gangavati (Koppal) and Shantinagar (Bengaluru) constituencies which were safe for him”, he said.
