In the early hours of Wednesday, a 19-year-old migrant worker from Bihar was attacked near KR Puram Metro Station. Two suspects, Asif and Syed Moosa, both auto-rickshaw drivers, were arrested by Mahadevapura police in connection with the incident.
The victim, originally from Banka district in Bihar, had been visiting her sister in Idukki, Kerala, for the past month. Along with her family, she had been working at a cardamom plantation. On Tuesday, she boarded a train to return to Bihar, and her cousin joined her at KR Puram railway station around 1:15 am.
According to police reports, the suspects, Asif and Moosa, allegedly engaged in inappropriate behavior toward the victim, while Moosa restrained her cousin. Upon hearing the victim’s distress, nearby residents rushed to assist, capturing Asif and handing him over to the police. Moosa was arrested shortly after, based on information provided by Asif.
The suspects, both from Mulbagal taluk in Kolar district, had been resting in their auto-rickshaws near the station. The victim has been taken to a hospital for medical care and testing.
The police have filed charges related to assault, wrongful restraint, and criminal intimidation against the accused.
