Bengaluru: With the lockdown entering its most liberal phase, thousands of youth are returning to the city to rejoin their duties, and pleas were made to the state government both by businesses and the youth through their representatives to allow reopening of PG Accommodations in the city. According to the health department authorities, as the flight, train and bus services began their operations, people started to return to the city. The state health department has now allowed the reopening of the Paying Guests (PGs). However, the department has imposed strict norms including separate toilets, bathrooms for every room, disinfection every day, etc for these PGs.

The PG managements have been asked to allow only registered inmates inside the PG Accommodation and have been tasked with preventing the entry of outsiders into the premises of the PG. Between two beds, 2 meters distance has been made compulsory. For every room, one toilet and bathroom have been made compulsory.

Disinfection spraying on a daily basis has also been made mandatory in all the PGs. The PG managements have also been asked to make separate arrangements for the clothes washing. “All the PG accommodation owners have been asked to ensure that if any one shows the symptoms of COVID 19, the health department must be alerted immediately,” said an officer from the department.
