A horrifying late-night crime shook Kasavanahalli Main Road on May 20, when 26-year-old Mohammed Jiyad, a cab driver from Rajiv Nagar, was brutally attacked and robbed by four unidentified men. What started as a food and fuel run around midnight turned into a four-hour nightmare.

Jiyad was riding his Bajaj Pulsar 220 when two bikers allegedly rammed into him near Nandini Junction around 12:15am. As he attempted to get up, two more joined, and all four began beating him, leaving him unconscious. When he came to, they forced him to an isolated area in Haralur.

There, the attackers demanded his phone and cash. When he said he had no money, one of them allegedly stabbed him in the wrist and back. They took his phone and pressured him to transfer ₹1.5 lakh. Unable to do so, he was told to call someone. He rang his roommate Azharuddin, who quickly alerted the police with Jiyad’s number and GPS location.

A Hoysala police patrol traced the call and reached the spot by 4am. Sensing police presence, the assailants escaped, taking Jiyad’s bike and phone. Jiyad was rushed to hospital for medical care.

Bellandur police have filed a case under BNS Sections 309 and 311. A senior officer confirmed CCTV footage is being reviewed to identify the culprits.

This incident has sparked concern over rising nighttime street crimes in Bengaluru.
