Bengaluru: A 22-year-old girl was raped by a youth who was high on drugs at Austin Town in Bengaluru on Friday night. The girl, who was brutally injured in the act, has been admitted to a hospital in the city.
The accused, identified as Mohammed Javed (35), has been arrested by the Ashoknagar police and has been remanded to judicial custody.
It is said that the girl, who was living in a rented accommodation here, was packing her bags to move elsewhere when the accused, who lived next door, barged into the house at about 7.30 pm and raped her.
Though the girl raised an alarm, her attempts were futile as the accused managed to overpower her. The girl, in an injured state, called the house owner, who rushed to the spot and took the girl to the hospital. The accused was nabbed a few hours after the incident.
Javed hails from Hyderabad and, when he learnt that the girl was leaving the accommodation, he decided to rape her. Tests have confirmed that the accused was high on drugs.
