Bengaluru: Former Karnataka chief minister and union minister S M Krishna has revealed his perspective of politics in relation to the past, present and future.
Addressing the gathering after releasing his autobiography titled “Smrithi Vahini” on Saturday, he opined, “The democratic setup has been completely dependent on money. Till there is a dependency on money, it is impossible to give good governance and have ‘fair and fine’ politics.”
“We have seen the ‘golden era’ of politics. But, during the recent times, the political scenario has completely changed. Political leaders like me are relieved that we are at the final stage of our lives, but we are also worried about political developments. The only solution to this is to have more youths join politics and it is high time that all the senior leaders think of it very seriously,” he added.
Meanwhile, he recollected his days in politics and how the people of Maddur (Mandya) helped him emerge victorious against then Congress chief ministerial candidate Veeranna Gowda when he had contested from the Praja Socialist Party in the 1960s.
