Hijab row interim order: Bommai to decide on college reopening on Feb 14

Bengaluru: Despite High Court issuing orders to re-open colleges in the State, which were shut since Monday February 8 due to Statewide following hijab row, the BJP Government in the State has decided to delay the reopening of colleges for some more days as part of exercising caution.

Home Minister Araga Jnanendra said on Friday February 11 after meeting with District Officials held by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai that a decision on college reopening will be taken on Monday February 14. We will follow the high court’s orders, but we need to watch the situation for a few days, he added.

On Friday, the High Court in its interim order released stated to colleges to re-open and to students to refrain from wearing clothes that are not prescribed under colleges’ uniform norms.

Following this, the State Government has decided to allow schools to reopen from Monday, stating decision on reopening colleges wouldbbe taken on Monday. “We want to go stage by stage,” said CM Bommai.
