Bengaluru: The Central government, on Saturday, September 14 celebrated “Hindi Divas”, emphasizing on the motto ‘one nation, one language.’ Condemning this, state opposition leaders had taken on Twitter against the Centre’s move. Former chief ministers Siddaramaih and Kumaraswamy had tweeted and stressed on the importance of Kannada language and other regional languages and had questioned ‘why not celebrate Kannada language day?’.
On Sunday, September 15, the Bharatiya Janata Party supporters posted a video on all social media platform, which showed former prime minister and Janata Dal (Secular) Supremo H D Deve Gowda delivering his speech in Hindi, at the Red Fort, when he was the Prime Minister.
Captioning the video, the BJP supporters mocked HDD stating that ‘whether the BJP had directed HDD to speak in Hindi, all you anti-Hindi fighters?’ The video has received flak.
Some have also gone ahead and posted a video link in the comment section of the video, where a senior Congress leade P Chidambaram, during the regime of UPA government had given a speech in Vigyan Bhavan Delhi, stressing on importance of Hindi language and to make it the national language.
